Dave and his son Kyle Doust created this sculpture as the request of CowparadeSlo for Los Osos. See it currently in Baywood park Los Osos. Half bear because of Osos, Monarch butterflies because of a place in town called Monarch grove where monarchs spend the winter, California poppies, and a paddle board because so many here enjoy doing that.
Dave creates many different styles of custom designed, hand-made water features in his California studio incorporating wood, cultured stone, mirrored colored and iridized glass.
Often a special or unusual object is integrated into a piece to encourage discovery and surprise. As well, attention is always paid to the way a water feature sounds.
Dave's work contains recycled high grade copper from decommissioned nuclear missiles giving it the ultimate GREEN recycling honor, of taking something once planet threatening and turning it into a gentle soothing object of art.
